SPAR COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE

SPAR stands for Scholar-Practitioner Action Research, and a Community of Practice relies on participants who are equally responsible for bringing new ideas to the group, offer feedback to one another, run the meetings, reflect on the efficacy of the work, and ensure a sustainable model for continuous growth.  Faculty members are invited to form a SPAR Community of Practice around a research question of their choosing using a design thinking approach (see slides below for more detail). Some example research questions are:

  • How do I teach in a way that supports this generation of students?
  • What does equitable teaching look like, and how can I apply it to my teaching?
  • How do I engage students who “had to take my class”?
