Italian Renaissance - ARTH 332 - D'Evelyn

Oxford Art

Oxford Art Online  has scholarly art encyclopedias, a dictionary of art terms, and digital images.  The “largest” resource is Grove Art Online.  Oxford Art Online also includes The Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, The Oxford Companion to Western Art, and The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms. The entries are geographical, genre, and biographical.

Begin by entering an artist's name (e.g. Brunelleschi) or a country (e.g. Italy) or a movement (e.g. Renaissance)

There are subject reference, biographical, and geographical articles in this resource along with images. The Brunelleschi, Filippo article is an example of a biographical article.

You can use the article contents to view all the entries of the article instead of scrolling through the article.  You can use the heading to focus on specific topics such as, in this example, character and personality of Leonardo da Vinci.

Use the bibliography to find books and articles to follow up on.  Why not use the materials the scholars are recommending?

Also use the "See Also" reference to find more material on the topic
