Searching Beyond the Catalog

When you search in the library's catalog, all the books and ebooks to which the library has access will show up in your search results.

How does it do that?

The catalog's search engine looks at basic data about each book to find your search terms, such as the title, description, or table of contents. This works well to find what you need in the vast majority of cases, but...

...it doesn't look for your search terms in the full text of each individual book.

Fortunately, some of our ebook collections can do exactly that! Each of the databases below allows the user to search throughout the whole book or article, not just in the title and description, for example. This is useful when performing very specific searches with a well-defined topic.

If you want a title that is not available through the catalog or I-Share:

Search WorldCat.org for the item and click on its title.

  • Click on the link "Request Item"

  • Fill out and submit the WorldCat form.

Otherwise, please fill out this Book Request Form.
