Course reserves are class-specific items that are set aside for limited borrowing or that must stay in the Library.

About Course Reserves

Items that may be placed on reserve include most Marshall Brooks Library materials and personal copies of books and periodicals. Although every attempt is made to secure personal copies, we cannot guarantee the safety of all items.  Personal items may not be put in Reference Room Open Reserve.   Photocopies are subject to copyright restrictions (maximum of 10% per book per term.)

We do not place the following items on reserve:

  • Interlibrary loan materials (ILL or I-Share)
  • materials borrowed by professors from other libraries
  • rented DVD & VHS
  • special collection materials.

Processing time for reserves:

  • one full business day before the term starts
  • two full business days during the term

Reserve Types

Circulation Desk Closed Reserve (max. 10 items, excl. DVD/VHS) :

  • Two-hour Reserve without overnight option
  • Two-hour Reserve with overnight option
  • DVD/VHS three-hour Reserve without overnight option
  • DVD/VHS three-hour Reserve with overnight option


Reference Room Open Reserve (max. 20 items)
