I-Share & Interlibrary Loan

1) Find the textbooks for your courses through Simple Syllabus

Copy the Title, Edition, and ISBN Number for each textbook

2) Try Search @ Principia College 

The Marshall Brooks Library's Search @ Principia College has books, e-books, some course texts, articles, and media.

• The loan period for physical items is 28 days, and you can renew your loans up to three times.
• eBooks are available to read online, so allow for downloading for a limited period of time.

3) Try I-Share Specifically

You can search I-Share, which gives you access to items from the CARLI Consortium (93 other libraries across IL) at no cost to you.

All of the libraries in CARLI are fine-free libraries, so if you return your book past the due date, the late fees will be waived. However, if an item is 30 days past the due date, it will be deemed lost, and there will be a lost item replacement fee.

Items are delivered to the Marshall Brooks Library Monday-Friday. Items can also be checked out in person at I-Share libraries with your Principia ID.

Course Reserves

Your professors might put course materials on reserve at the library. The professor will list any course reserves on the syllabus or in Canvas.  

4) Can't Find What You Need?

• If the materials you need are not available through Marshall Brooks Library, I-Share, or your professor is not doing course reserves, many websites rent or sell books: Amazon, Chegg, eCampus.com, BooksRun, Textbooks.com, BookFinder, ThriftBooks, or Better World Books. 
• Reach out to upperclassmen and see if they’re selling textbooks from classes you’re enrolled in. 
• Check in the dorms or the shelves behind the CSO board in Howard Center next to the men’s restroom.
