Music History I - MUS 321 - Whitmore

Off campus? Log in using your Principia username and password, just like you are logging into your Principia email.

When conducting music research, search using some of these elements:

  • Composer
  • Nationality of the Composer
  • Title
  • Genre
  • Musical Period
  • Geographic Information
  • Numbers associated with the work
  • Instrumentation
  • Key Signature or voice type/range

Other things to consider:

  • Combine the above elements with the appropriate logic operator
  • Are there multiple ways to describe a piece? composer? etc.
  • Be cautious how you truncate a search term, you could retrieve irrelevant results.

If you still aren't sure, ask a librarian.
