Oxford Art Online  has scholarly art encyclopedias, a dictionary of art terms, and digital images.  The “largest” resource is Grove Art Online.  Oxford Art Online also includes The Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, The Oxford Companion to Western Art, and The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms. The entries are geographical, genre, and biographical. 

Begin by entering an artist's name (e.g. Mary Cassatt) or a country (e.g. France) or a movement (e.g. Impressionism)

There are subject reference, biographical, and geographical articles in this resource along with images. The Cassatt, Mary article is an example of a subject article.
