Become Acquainted with the Culture or Society

1. Search the library catalog [click link for access] for an aspect of gender roles in American society.  Select an aspect that can be compared to another country. Examples may include:

  • gender roles
  • gender socialization
  • social norms
  • women's roles in society
  • men's roles in society
  • women in politics
  • gender roles in marriage or the household
  • gender communication
  • gender and religion

2. Skim through relevent chapters or sections to get an overview of a specific aspect of gender roles in the US.

3. Jot down keywords or concepts to use in an article database. 

4. Search one of the discipline specific journal databases for articles on your chosen aspect of gender roles. (See journal articles tab of libguide)
